Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Good morning to all that survived the whole Thanksgiving/Black Friday thing. Ours was wonderful. I was able to get most of the cooking done before the dd, sil, gd and fiance' arrived. on Wed. It was only 4:30ish but of course already dark so we just had a nice dinner of clam chowder and fresh homemade rolls and evening visit. Everyone wore out (fresh air and quiet got them) early so of course I kicked them out of bed by 6:30. A day of catching up, walks in the snow and of course lots of eating (country breakfast of Nueske's bacon, eggs, buttermilk biscuits and gravy) everyone insisting on pie for lunch, all day snacking on deer camp cookies and mulled cider and then all the traditional fixin's for Thanksgiving dinner. Boy that bunch really did some serious damage to that 16 lb bird! Then a short nap for the driver (sil) while daughter and I did a bit more catching up then way too soon they were on their way home to Illinois :(.
Whew! What a whirlwind week of preps and cooking for the deer hunters then just enough time to reset and do it all over again. What a blessing!!! I hope all my Pond peeps' holiday was just as blessed. :hugs
Im so glad you had a great visit with them! :love
X3!

Sounds like everyone had a decent holiday, no disasters. I think I’ll be lazy today, spend some time with the birds, do a little laundry and house cleaning.
Lazy sounds good.. :highfive:

We actually did Black Friday and it was DH's idea! On the road to town and Menard's just before daylight. They were having a super deal on those multi position ladders. He's wanted one since last year but had NEVER done the Black Friday thing before. Even up here it can get pretty insane (minus all the rudeness, pushing and shoving you see on tv of course). I think my poor DH was in a bit of shock when he saw the crowded parking lot, road, and anywhere else you could abandon a pickup truck! :gig You had to try to score a cart outside otherwise you were out of luck. I have to admit I had never seen Menard's that bad on Black Friday before either. Think it must have been our nice weather. More folks than normal up north for the deer hunt/holiday maybe? Anyway, I was able to score his ladder for him and a few more deals and he found a great deal on a 3000 lumen lantern for his workshop. A short stop at the Fleet Farm for animal supplies and back home before mid morning and chores before the weather was supposed to turn back to our "normal". rounding out our day with a yummy meal warmed up Thanksgiving leftovers and Pa enjoyed a big slice of pumpkin pie before stretching out to watch some football in the bedroom (or so he claimed. Don't think he lasted to the end of the first quarter ;) )
The rest of our holiday season will most likely be just us and the animals, the quiet and the snow and we are good with that. We learned a long time ago to cherish that kind of Christmas. Makes it easier to be able to focus on what the season is really about.

Winner all the way around. Son heading this way; said he wasn't looking for the freezing rain on the other end of the state from you. Probably snow where you are, if anything.

Just got back from hunting..... Nothing.
I checked the camera and 10 minutes after I left last night three does came in.
Spent a good part of the night out there.
But no bucks.... Thinking they are starting to head to the deer yards for the winter.
If I see it getting more likely I'll just stop for the year.
I plan to take a ride down to the migration trails and sit for a day.
