Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

No deer kill today. Saw the same momma and button buck 4 times today in 4 different areas. I think they were stalking me.

Got home and collected eggs, and Sara serama has peeping coming from under her! I reached under and felt a pip (zipping, felt like) and another one already hatched! Guess I had the dates wrong on hers, I thought they had a week or so to go! Will get pics tomorrow.

I have the same heater, hooked up to a 20# bottle; those 1#ers go too quick
I have a double buddy heater too....That I hook up to a #20.
But this little one is great for hunting and Ice fishing because it's works off of little bottles.
I refill them for about a buck a piece..... They last about 4 hours on high.

I thought that was a palm tree in the first picture... those needles are so long! We just have spruce up here... no pine.
We have lots of different evergreen/conifer type trees up here.... Very diverse.
I actually really like evergreen trees.....I have a nice Sitka spruce growing in my yard from Alaska. It doesn't like our Winters though and don't know if it's ever get very big. But it's turning into a nice bush. Also had a Gaint Sequoia growing but it gave up after three years. Got pretty big ..... I'm gonna replant one this spring and keep it trimmed to bush size.
I think if I'm careful I can grow them here as a landscaping bush. Just gonna have to cover in the winter.

I also have a real cool Redwood tree I planted years ago as a bonsai......a few years ago.
(Was when Walnut was still here). I had my whole bonsai collection out in the green house when a serious freeze came..... Temps dropped way below zero. Wiped out all of them. Even my native Maple tree Forest of five sugar Maples that I had already gotten to miniaturize the leaves to some extent.
So I guess I learned a lesson ..... Trees when you bonsai them are frail......
Oh.... Finish the story...... Anyways the Redwood started out as a bonsai. It was the only tree that survived the freeze...... So I acclimated it to our weather and planted it..... It's doing well even thought it's not native here.
