Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Morning fellow paddlers View attachment 1603252
Well, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! An inch or so of the fresh stuff over night, brightening everything up. Supposed to be nice today and might even see the sun for a bit this afternoon, the quiet before the storm. They still can't make up their minds how much snow we'll get but I actually hope it's at least 1/2 a foot. No, not went off the long end of the short pier, we are supposed to go into the deep freeze next week and a good snow cover will protect us from the frost depth going too deep. Not fun things happen when that occurs.
Twin son #2 is experiencing his very first "this is not California" winter - he's in Sioux Center, Iowa. He's still more giddy about snow than his fellow classmates, but is definitely learning the value of layering his clothing before going outside! :)

what happened to all this "Global Warming" of which they spoke? The official totals for November and we only had 3 days that were normal temps, the entire rest of the month was below!
I can't get my chooks to stick their toes out of the greenhouse and they're already starting to get cranky. It's going to be a long winter for them I think.

We’re still on the rollercoaster. 26 yesterday, 70 this weekend!

Well I've got a cougar hanging around behind the house. It's been feeding on the dead spikehorn across the tracks from my blind.
It was one of the buck I've been watching. Got hit by a car crossing the highway coming to my stand. The other night I was hearing all these strange noises.... It was the same night a neighbor saw the cat run across the road towards where I was sitting.

Our second stop of the afternoon was to a memory care unit. One of the residents alternately stood up with the kids, did a little dancing in front of them, and sat on the piano bench with me. :)
:love
Music - it’s good for the soul...

My son in Spencer, IA says they are expecting a minimum of 6” this weekend. His snowblower needs some work. At least he’ll have time to shovel out before work on Monday.

Good morning, Pond. Pond Party tomorrow. I'm dusting off all the lily pads. :ya
:celebrate:wee

ELF.....extreme low frequency..... Submarine antenna.... It was a large telephone pole type antenna ran from Michigamee to Clam lake Wisconsin. So it was a long pole line.
Ah.. ok. I learn somethin new all the time here..:D

Hope it leaves soon.. :fl

I’d have taken him if I saw him!
I think a European mount will be nice. Looks like plenty of meat too. Yum. You done great!
Just tried the first of the bologna from last year's deer; disappointing. Tastes alright, but the consistency is more like meatloaf than bologna. Won't even cut cleanly with a knife; not going to bother getting the meat slicer out. :(

Ewww, doesn't sound too appetizing.
Grind it into burger meat? I love using the ground meat for spaghetti sauce, chili, taco salad meat.

Me thinks I need to stop on the way home for lettuce, tomato, and chips. Venison taco salads tonight. :yesss:

ELF Extreme low frequency...
HARP High Altitude Research platform NASA
The one that was supposed to kill whales had no acronym that I remember.. But they were testing the distance that loud sounds would travel under water... As far as I can remember there was no effect on marine life.... Off the coast here at Scripps and off the coast....

OK found it:

Long-Range Ocean Acoustic Propagation EXperiment (LOAPEX)
it was a cooperative experiment including Acoustical Science labs all over the world Testing the propagation of sound due to the shape of the ocean floor and variables presented in the Oceans themselves....

The test was done in 2004
