Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Seward highway closed because of a rock slide.
That part isn't that odd.

There are some super steep rockslide areas along that stretch of highway.

But yeah, all of the road issues at once... our infrastructure is not that great. Repairing everything will take some time!

One year when most of the bridges were out all along the peninsula.... it took maybe 6 weeks before we could drive to Anchorage again.

1968? And wasn’t much of the damage done by a tsunami? (Trying to remember what I learned at the museums we visited.)
1964.

And it depended where you were as to what kind of damage.

Some had more damage from the earthquake, some more from the tsunami. And some places the earthquake just settled the area lower down, so like 4 to 6 feet lower elevation but almost no damage.... until the tide came in.

Oh! I was so close!

We read the newspaper articles at the museum Soldotna. We visited several historical museums while we were there. We like history, so that's what we do for entertainment.
