I’m standing by the kitchen sink with the door open as usual. Tribe 1 are just outside the door eating their dinner. Ruffles has finished and is a few inches in front of the post and rail fence that runs across the front of the building about two metres away. Fudge is just outside the maternity unit where Tackle is incarcerated while her leg improves. Cillin (Tribe 1‘s senior rooster is eating with Fat Bird. Mel is drinking from the bowl on the house hard stndiing outside the door. I actually heard Cillin give the warning call and I looked up in time to see a Gos Hawk, wings spread wide and bent slightly trying to slow it’s dive towards the chickens down.
I’m out the door as Cillin, Fat Bird, Fudge and Mel hurtle past me into the house screaming the general panic alarm. I can see the Gos Hawks talons just brush Ruffles who is now directly under the horizontal lower bar of the post and rail fence. The Gos Hawk tries to bank away from the lower rail and it’s right wing thumps against the second fence rail, causing it to wobble in flight and dip towards the bank where it turns so it’s almost facing me and flaps it’s wings pulling upwards in a very tight turn to face away from the house. I’ve been shouting as I’ve rushed to the fence with my arms outstretched. I just got my fingers on one of it’s wings when I hammered into the fence. Ruffles rushes past me into the house, a few feather flying behind her. At full stretch over the fence I just couldn’t grip the Gos Hawks wing and it pulled away and dived down the bank then climbed hard into the trees on the left and was gone.
I almost caught a Gos Hawk with my bear hands!
Give it a timeout.
Just what may I ask would you have done if you had caught it?given it a stern talking to? That thang might have bitten your nose off!
To be honest I don't really know. I wasn't really thinking.

I knew a girl who once dated a guy with a glass eye. He lost his eye as a child trying to peek into a bird house to see some baby birds. . the mama bird was on the nest.Even worse might have taken your eyes out.I'm dumb enough to do something like that. When I'm in protective mode, I would take on the devil himself. Hope that never happens, my work isn't finished here.
