Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I'm in season three of the Roman Empire on Netflix.
I've always been fascinated by the Greeks and Romans..... Such an advanced civilization.
So catch how backwards everything went... For so long.
Scares me.... The fact that they were there United States of their time..... Are we all doomed?
2000 years from now will people be talking about our civilization they way we do Rome.
God only knows?

I know there are at least three pure Ancona’s in this clutch. The other three could be or could be Ancona Pekin or Ancona blue Swede. Any idea on how to tell them apart? :gig Also there are four khakis.

Wouldn't the yellow heads with tiny dark dots be ancona? I think I see 4.

The two with bigger dark splotches I think are crossed with the blue swedish

Not sure how to know if they are pure.... unless skin color is different in those other breeds?

I think about going from bathing, excellent paved roads, running water and good sewage to sewage in the streets, dirt tracks AND no one washing ever!

They will I believe. It's the nature of civilizations, they come and go, or at least have throughout recorded history. An interesting thought is many species do the same, they flourish for a period and then die out if they can't evolve fast enough. A thought that the petty short sighted politicians need reminding of imo.

One of the contributing factors of the decline of the Roman Empire is what happened here in Catalonia. The Senate would reward their generals and others by 'giving' them area of land. Those of high favor got areas closest to Rome while the less senior, or less trusted got given bits at the edges of the Empire that nobody else really wanted. This is a great example of poor politics, not understanding the nature of decline and nepotism and favoritism. The favors concentrated to those who were most 'liked' by the politicians.
These gifts were bestowed during and shortly after the expansion of the Empire after which came a period of stability and 'maintenance.
The keeping of the favored and faithful close to Rome proved a terrible mistake as the provinces rebelled. Here when Rome called for these semi retired and seasoned army members to reform and fight, they refused and sometimes joined the rebelling forces.
Of course those who were kept close to Rome were often not those who were most experienced in battle and more politicians than soldiers.

Not sure why antibiotics would work... As shingles is a virus.
Must have some type of secondary infection associated with them.
I've take anti viral meds that worked very well.
But I've only had one bad outbreak in 1995.
All the others I had later were small minor patches on my forehead.....

That was my fault. I screwed up my 'biotics' & my 'virals'.

Did I mention that kid 4 went down with the flu?

Well... looks like kid 5 is about to keel over with it... kid 4 is still out ..

Kid 3 is FINALLY breathing! His oxygen count is now 95! (Below 90 is hospital... on Tuesday, after a bunch of drugs at the doctor's office he got to 90).

And his heart rate is finally coming down a bit to better levels... all of the steroids plus the albuterol was shooting up his heart rate. And he was drinking a bit of caffeine too since that also helps breathing.

Tomorrow we are supposed to drive up (2 hours 1 way) to graduation for kid 2..... and deliver the ducklings and chicks that I hatched for a friend.

Might leave a few kids home :barnie
