Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

IT would be ok if it were watered down by about three quarters.... But the chemically sugar free additive gives me almost an instant headache.

I just like regular good filtered spring water... With maybe an infusion of Herb tea... and a dash of sucralose... i fi wanted it sweet.

Whew I am fading again.... four or five nights of very little sleep is catching up on me.

Take it easy Deb, lots & lots of sleep to help the healing process. :hugs Let me know if you need anything ding-dong-dashed on your doorstep.

Here is my mosly full write up...
Came back yesterday Was released about three oclock.

Went in On the Eleventh about five thirty Am. My son had to go to work so I piled my take along stuff into to bags and hung them to my walker. Made it half way down the hall of the main entrance and had to sit down to rest.

This man in a uniform and hospital Id came up with a wheel chair and asked... "Do you Need a ride?" Only took a moment to realize he was offering to take me. So I witched to the hospital wheel chair he hung my bags on the luggage arms and I steared my walker in front of us....

First desk... I only had to tell them Who I was and My birth date. They told him where to go.

We went to an elevator and took it to the second floor. From there he took me to a waiting room... He asked me some questions and wrote them down on a note pad. Then talked in his walky talky and told me a nurse would take me to my pre op room.

He turned on the tv before he left. One gal in the waiting room had helped us by taking my walker and pushing it separately in... Tight spaces. Just had settled in listening to others talk about "stuff" When the Male Nurse came in and asked me who I was. Then Off we went. With the helper driver tagging along.

One door down and into preop we went to room Eleven... Funny thing that... Room Eleven oN the Eleventh of June. Had to do the usual things Change into a gown and get in bed. Then the Restriation clerk came in pushing her travelling desk in... We did the Id and the other stuff and I got and arm band ... Signed permissions... Then was told who would be next to come in.

She also printed bag and tag ids for my walker purse and clothing bag and BiPap bag... She asked me if there was anything important to save in my purse like Wallet and money... I said There shouldnt be... So I dug in... Handed her my wallet and spotted my house hold wad ... Oops. I counted out four hundred sixteen for her and she counted it too. Put it all in a safety pouch and told me It would be in the valut... Alll I had to do is pick it up in the lobby on the way out. She inventoried my wallet and wrote it all down before putting it all in the pouch and off she went.

Doctor came in and chatted with me a bit and generally assured me by answering last minute questions...

Anesthesia came in.... Signed some forms

and all I had to do is wait again. Two Chearful chatty nurses came in and hauled me off about half hour later. soon I was in the operating room and we all worked to get me on the operating table... I was in there right at eight thirty.... Anesthesia came in and Off I was into La La land.....

Dont know when I woke up but I was back in a bed.... and I was introduced to my nurse and her CNA. They got me settled in the room and explained all the remotes... Then Said... "Lets take a walk shall we?" up and off we went the two laps down the hall. I felt some tugging and a bit of pain on the port sites but that was pretty much it. And the fact that I was very tired we took the small loop.

Back to room and potty and back to bed and sleep.

Amazing to thing all this in one day. and the day wasnt over. four more walkls longer each time... all on Chipped ice and Iv fluids. They finally let me sleep at bed time... and That was when the party started next door.

Someone Everyone knew came in to the room next dooor after surgery. All their company came too. and kept me up most of the night...

The next day was pretty much the same. In the night they changed the nursing staff and I got RN whos name excapes me... and CNA Dave. The CNAS were the ones to help me get free of the attachments to equipment so I could use the potty. They kept the bed straight and hooked me back up when I got back in bed.

The next day was the Twelfth... Talked to the Doctor at seven Am... HE was amazed that I wasnt having much pain... All in all it was about a four but when they gave me Tylenol in my IV it went down to a two. He said he was proud of me coming through this so well. WE discussed how much of a risk I was to do the surgery Prior.... He then said the charge nurse was going to come in next along with a dietitcion and tell me when i could start taking sips of water. He shook my hand and left...

The charge nurse was someone I already knew and Had no idea she was the charge nurse... Shes the one who handled the first seminar. amazingly nice person. She brought me a propel water to sip on. My first "oayed sip" It ws aweful.... Too artifically sweet Too artifically flavorded... I said so and she laughed... and said I either get a yum reaction or an ikk reaction... " She agreed to let me change the water out to just plain water.

She left and came back about half an hour later and told me If I had the water in the bottle drank by somewhere between 1 and 2 in the after noon she d release me. So... That was my goal.... Drink the bottle and home. I handed it to frank and asked him to pour it out and fill it with water...

So Thats how my Days went in the hospital. Was released at three recovered all my gear by four and the Transfer delivey person had me on the curb by about four thirty.

My son picked me up and off we went to get grandmas dinner.... Back to home... Next day.

should be able to start clear liquid foods in a day or so... I have been on water for three days now and I am not hungry. Amazing that.

Should be on Jellow and clear broth soon... Had a sugar free popsicle before bed last night it was wondefrul. Took me about half hour to eat it.

Well Synopsis... Surgery day the 11 th.... Over night to the 12 th then home to bed ..... No complaints. Effects just tired and not hungry. Dry mouth... Lots of sipping containers around.

Oh and I have lost another ten pounds for a grand total of fifty.

I'm so happy for you brave girl!! Best wishes on the rest of your recovery.:hugs

Don't you have an advocate on staff at the hospital to fight with the insurance company on your behalf? I did.
nope. What this hospital does is automatically discount up to 75% (depending on what service/drugs etc. is being denied) any denied claims. They offered to knock off 75% of the denied drugs and allow us to make payments but it's just crazy to have to pay at all. UHC is denying on grounds that they don't cover what they classify as "over the counter self-administered drugs" meaning they could be either bought over the counter or acquired with a prescription that would be covered/reimbursed by Medicare part D (which we don't have) or other drug coverage. Ok, that would make sense EXCEPT the disputed drugs aren't covered anyway because they were administered "in house" and the drugs in dispute were administered IN the operating room while I was out cold!!! "Hey doc! What is that? Oh. Hold on, don't cut yet, I'll be right back, I have to run over to Walgreens and grab that $3000 tube of goo, oh, and can you write me prescription for that?" Are they kidding?!?!?! :he
