Cooking for 50 ish! There's got to be a bit left over for me.Hello, Pond!
I am home for a day, off again tomorrow for our 3rd week at Camp. I'll have 43 primary week campers (going into grades 2-5) to feed this week, along with a dozen or so staff. This is the easiest week. For one thing, I've had two weeks' practice, and they don't eat as much so I don't have to cook as much.
So, a month ago I mentioned that one of my chickens disappeared and I wasn't sure if she was nesting or got eaten. She showed up on Thurs. with 4 little fuzzballs in tow, about a week old. (That's my estimate, anyway, since they already have the beginnings of wing feathers.) I don't know where they spend Thursday night, but yesterday when I got home, I made little steps for them so they could get into the coop. She had them in there last night. I love seeing her with them, and how the rest of the flock just does their thing around them. No fighting or picking or any other thing.
Time to get ready for next week. Just thought I'd check in. (I read Pond posts every night and think of you all, just don't have the time or oomph to respond.)

Do you know where mum hatched the chicks? It's great when mum just marches them home and into the coop. Hi, i've been gone a bit. Meet your new brother and sisters.
