Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Boy, I'd like to hang out with you bobbi-j are you so considerate of others' feelings.
Aww, thanks! :hugs

I think dear, sweet OW boy should be hot wired and I do mean HOT. Then whomever tries to kidnap him will be yelling OW loud enough for all to hear. I am all about protecting things that cannot protect themselves.
That would be fun to watch, wouldn't it?

so what are you putting down instead? something you can power wash and squeegie off? Thats what I want with a big ole drain right in the middle.

That's what DH suggested when we built our house.

Well... ack.... what a day.

I am VERY GLAD that this will only take a week (supposedly :fl )

We have ripped up the old carpet and the old linoleum in the book room, great room, powder room, kitchen, and pantry. :th

We need to take out the dishwasher and range tonight.....

:barnie

But.... supposedly :fl we will be able to put the range back tomorrow night... so just no cooked breakfast or cooked lunch.

Which isn't bad.... but I am not holding my breath.

I have hired a guy to install, but kids and I are doing demolition, the first step of cleaning and prep, and moving of heavy stuff.

Guy was here today to pop off baseboards (I didn't trust myself or kids to get them off without breakage), and do a bit of prep.... install starts tomorrow.

He thinks he will get the dining area and maybe pantry done... with the range side of kitchen... but not yet the fridge.

Fridge moves tomorrow night... but should fit into the mudporch.
Sounds like a pretty speedy remodel!

This new luxury vinyl plank. :idunno 100% waterproof, but looks good. Clicks together super solid so water won't get under...but even if it does...it doesn't matter. So yeah...if I had a drain in the floor I could hose it off.

Looks nice...

Yeah... well... we already did most of the prep... the declutter and cleaning :sick :barnie that was horrid.

All he really needs to do is cut and place... but WOW...

Now that the horrid carpet is up... I notice that... the kitchen cabinets are beat to carnation! As in WOW do they look bad and lots of damage... the one door on the south of the house is all busted up and really should be replaced... and the window in the book room with the crack...why the crack isn't just a crack, the inside layer of the double pane window is all busted up with bits falling out!

So what.... the carpet was THAT old and dirty I never noticed the rest???? :idunno

And the new floor isn't even in yet...but the concrete floor is just so.... clean...

Floor installer said that happens all the time... the floor looks nice... so now the rest of the house issues are more obvious.

I kind of worry.... the new floor will look so much better than the concrete... once the new floor is in..maybe we will have to redo all of the rest of the house. :lau :he

I have a concrete floor in my house with a drain. The problem is often finding someone who knows how to lay concrete. The builders that did the floor here didn't.:he
Despite going to great lengths to explain the importance of expansion joints, fine mesh reinforcing and where it should go and how to suspend the lower reinforcing steels above the grade, what mix to use etc, I got what I got.
I've got some cracks. Nothing serious but.........
I've never been a carpet fan. If you live in the house then carpets are impossible to keep clean and of course they are a mite haven.
I couldn't have the chickens in if I didn't have a concrete floor.
