Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

think I might have mentioned on here? I could see this disaster in slow motion happening as soon as I saw the first news report of a "run" on chicks because of the egg shortage so I've decided to leave room in my coop to rescue as many of the survivors as I can. Thinking the dumping should begin around mid summer for the ones that live that long.
Very true.

Good idea, by the way! :clap

I tried to call and cancel my plane flights ...

Well.. the puddle jumper has declared bankruptcy and will refund zero...

Big airline said "call back first week of May, if the shutdown is still going on, and you will get a full refund. If you cancel now, you will not get a full refund "

So I am going to think a bit.....

Winder though, maybe big airlines will all go bankrupt too.... so I get a partial refund now, forget zero later?

And the hotels and the ferry tickets?

Should I wait until the first week of May to call for all of them?

-sigh-
Notice all of the typos in that post?

Clearly....I am not happy.

Thats okay lot's of us know that many of the ones bought in the shelter in place time
will dump them if we ever get back to socialization

How are you feeling Pyxis? Still heathy I hope. :fl:fl We went into our feed store for baby chicks on Saturday. The lady who works there was so glad to see regulars. She said they've been inundated with new customers swarming in for first time chicks.

I am still well so far, thanks for checking in!

Store is still insanely busy though. And yeah, chicks are selling like crazy. I don't like it. We actually sold out of all heat lamp bulbs in the store at one point. Now we're out of ALL chick and poultry feeders smaller than the 15 pound metal ones, and all waterers below 3 gallons.

And all 25 and 50 pound bags of chick feed. We only had Naturewise today because some came in on today's truck. And that was selling out fast.

When people come to my store to get chicks, I make very sure they also buy all the necessary supplies, so the chicks have a fighting chance. Makes me sad to think about all the chicks being sold in all the stores that don't have an employee like me who knows proper care for them.

Yep, I wish stores like that spent the time to teach employees...

But from what I understand, employee turn around is so fast...they don't see it as worth while.

Sigh. This just makes me sigh. We have been fighting w an airline for over a month now (Son's cancelled study abroad program). Not looking good. We probably are just going to eat the cost.
Sigh.

A friend of mine who is in a small duplex has been fostering a couple of my chicks until they're feathered to give her 8 year old son some purpose. They brought back the 4 week old Marans and traded for some Swedish Flowers. It's been such a good thing for their whole family (and now he has pets to share w his class online! :) )
