Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Floating shelves, maybe? Everything would be out in the open, though.

Or one of those places that sell contractors' extra inventory? Or maybe keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace Local and/or Craigslist for something that Susie Homemaker got tired of.
There are a couple of high dollar communities... Rancho Santa Fe, Lajolla, Del Mar. Just to name a few. Every once and a while I see adds for cabinets from there I bet there is no particle board in them. Cragslist is my go to.

I am doing shelving instead of upper cabinets the brackets are in place so I am happy to continue using them. The only things I need are places to set dishes and Glasses. Top shelf will be for Things that only get accessed occasionally.

I have pleanty of racks... So may repurpose a couple to replace the one small cabinet near the door. So that is a work around. I still want cabinets and a narrow counter top there.

I need to scan in my kitchen layout so i can make paper dolls. I had an idea last night that may give me more room as well as easy access to stove and drawers. If I do that I am biting the bullet and having cabinets made.

Thanks for letting me brainstorm

Maybe you could get lucky enough to find a retired cabinet maker with a woodshop that would welcome a little side money for doing what he loves.

Too bad I couldn't have hooked you up with my FIL 50 or so years ago; he could've done you a real nice job.

penny sounds like your father's tables had more of a life than I do. Miss the olden days
when I used to walk 20 miles or so just to escape my father. I was his caregiver for too long.
He had dementia and a very bad temper. But he would watch tv for hours so I could sneak off in between making meals for him.

Then he'd ask what crap we were having for dinner. I'd tell him "the usual crap." The ONLY thing he liked was the "square, brown things." Took me quite awhile to figure out he meant
"brownies."

The good part was he only liked the edges (harder baked/sometimes burned) and I got the nice section.
