Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

One blind Silkie coop, completed. :yesss:

Grass doesn’t do well in this area, especially at this time of the year, so we’ll see what happens with that. I’m trying to water it at night after she goes to bed.

It will take her a few days to find her feet, but we tried to keep her food & water on the same side as it was in the house, & we’re still trying to bell train her.

The door is tall & wide & the ramp is flat so she can walk in & out freely without worrying that she will bump her head or fall. Yesterday she found her way into her hut all by herself. 😍 She doesn’t say much. I don’t know if that’s a normal silkie thing or not, but she’s got birds all around her & seems very content to hear them chatting.

Great set-up.

Wow you all look hot and dry!!!

Good Morning, Pond!
Hanging onto my lily pad for dear life. It’s day 3 of 30+ mph winds and highs in the mid to upper 90’s. The whitecaps are making me a bit seasick and now I have a sunburn. Waiting for calmer seas.
How can it be that windy and that hot???

She has a good deal of room there very nice :frow
Thanks! It’s not a huge amount of space. We noticed too much space was overwhelming for her. Its way too small for a normal chicken, but seems to be a good size for her. We can eventually expand her space within her run if she adapts & needs more room.

How can it be that windy and that hot???
Sounds like October in So Cal.

might look at giving her another silkie might make her happier bit try to find one that is older?
They do know themselves something I did not know first .. That is why I have 4

Frankie found the blind silkie “Harriet” standing in her water with her head stuck between the picket fence. :barnie Soooo, we got her set up with smaller kitty bowls & chicken wire strung across the fencing. It’s not fancy, but it’s enough to keep her alive. I’ll try to pretty it up tomorrow.

Trial, error, adjust. Trial, error, adjust. Trial, error, adjust... You all know how that goes, right.
