Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I wonder who reported you. Did they knock on your door or leave a note? How will you take care of them an hour away?
My guess is the next door neighbors to the left of me. Their house has a master bedroom on the second floor. And I am sure Beasties Doodle doos wafted up at precisely 4 am. I had let them know that if they had any issues with them to let me know if its a problem.

No who ever sent in the complaint sent it to the code inforcer directly. He apparently came out and inspected without us knowing. I have no issues with this... it is the law. Apparently I was wrong about the thirteen hens... This property is 13000 square feet appx. which allows for six hens. No roos. Coop must have a top on it and all feed needs to be stored in a mouse proof container.

My son did all the work as usual. I had to load up on pain meds just to get in the car. but by the time we got there I was feeling Ok. We got the chickens settled Food and water and shade.

There is an issue with the water coming from the well to the house. Not enough pressure. The pump guy put in one replacement tank but said I didnt need a second. So I agreed. Now that I am planning to move in I reallize I can p a heavier stream.... So a call has to go into the pump guy for replacement of the second tank,

When i was travelling up to the house to tend my animals I went every three days. I will be doing the same for the chickens. who are protected buy double Airlock of Chainliink and roof of chainlink as well. The 25 lb feeder is full so I will only be dumping water buckets and filling them up.

At least till I can get the water pressure up and some things fixed with the big water tank. Amazing how things break down when you arent there. SMH...

I made a drive way up through the yard to get to the coop and my bedroom. So access will be easier.

what a shame! do you live in a residential area?
Oh yeah big time. Not my house my sons. I am having my house renovated prior to moving back in. Its up in the high desert. About a sixty mile drive. But the work is taking longer than I expected so been here longer than I should.

when we moved the chickens in it was one immature roo and two hens. The roo was very Rooish but hadnt even started kazoo crowing. I got complacent. Sigh.

Hey @perchie.girl so how is the house coming ? almost to waht you want ?
About as well as anyone working one day every two weeks. Subfloor is done, Walls are rehabbed. (no fire blocking behind the stove) Now thats fixed. four base cabinets layed in. Butcher block countertops cut to fit, sink roughed in. The countertops need to be Tung Oiled After trimming to get all the extra nooks and crannys. Easy process but takes 12 hours between applications. The counters are already ready for staining sanded and clean.

The pantry door is cut and the studs are there. Hes using metal studs... all good. The cubby for the Refrigerator should be next it will recess the refrigerator till it only sticks into the kitchen by fourteen inches. I am opting for Stainless Steel Wire shelving on either side of the refrigerator. Left over counter top will fill the counter needs there.

Pantry will get The same manufacturer of shelving only in 18 x 48 wide. 72 inches tall. Four sets of shelves of that type. Each of those will get one Drawer style shelf added to it. Because my canning jars are going to be small. Surprisingly the drawer style shelves cost not much more than the static ones.

The back of the pantry will be a hook up for the Freezer and space for a small folding Table. All Ready for install. Oh and the shelves for the pantry will have four inch locking casters So I can assemble them at my liesure and put them in the pantry.

Once the kitchen cabinets are in, and the pantry and the refrigerator alcove finished Then the flooring goes in....

All I have left to do for the inside of the house is purchase a couch as well as a bed for the bedroom.

Oh and I put in my request for an All American Canner 30 quart. They are on back order but they expect them to ship somewhere around October. Wont charge me till they can fill the order which is good. They are so heavy it will live either on the stove or on a roll around cart.

Things that still need to be done By Luis:
  • Front porch
  • Back porch
  • Steps with a landing for the laundry room.
Plumbing issues mostly by me:
  • Water pressure- Marty the well guy needs to resolve, known issue. the first tank cost me about 600 bucks. He talked me out of replacing the second. I should have insisted.
  • Valve setup for existing water bib - Me ... Apparently someone tried to fix a leak with glue without me knowing it. pipe has no shut off valve either. So New bib, and New Shut off valve. Nothing someone with PVC Glue a pipe cutter and the appropriate components cant fix.
  • Three thousand gallon tank needs its filling pipe leak fixed - Me I need to cut out a non functioning and now leaking fill valve and patch in Straight pipe This tank serves any and all irrigation including livestock tanks. It has its own booster pump and can blow sprinklers right off their swivels. LOL.
New chicken coop by me or a helper or both Probably by Luis:
  • 24x24 poultry house
  • Underground plumbing for both the poultry house and the horse corral
  • Underground wiring for each as well (Solar I hope)
  • 24 x 100 Run Enclosure Netted over top so no escapees.
  • Stand alone low pressure water feed 200 gallons. (no repeat of water debacle years gone by.)
Once the kitchen is done and the floor in I am ready to move.
