Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

@perchie.girl Great news!!! keep us posted on all the tests and stuff. How are you doing with the smoke? Is it getting heavy where you are? How about at the house?
Didn't see any updates on our Oregon end of the pond. See they caught the creep that set those fires.

We're good on the smoke normal masks which we already wear seem to filter most of the particulates. The Alpine fire or they call it the Valley Fire has burned 17,000 acres. They have it 87 percent contained. 61 structures destroyed 11 structures damage and only three injuries which included fire fighters and civilians.

The other fires are north of us about sixty miles as the crow flies. Our winds mostly head from the east to the west Having Great big deserts in the east. So the topography can make a difference. Heading along canyons causes the winds to accelerate kind of like putting your thumb over the end of the hose to give the water a burst of energy.

My house is east of the fire about thirty miles. If it goes through there there will be nothing to stop it. Chaparal is on the oily side and wild grasses right now are dry. Very dry.

Needless to say my defensive brain is on the alert for new fire smells. We squeeked through the cedar fire back when my house was in Escrow. The following is an excerpt from Wikipedia.

The Cedar Fire was a massive, highly-destructive wildfire, which burned 273,246 acres of land in San Diego County, California, during October and November 2003. The fire's rapid growth was driven by the Santa Ana winds, causing the fire to spread at a rate of 3,600 acres per hour. Wikipedia

in some cases the houses that were burned down took ten years to rebuild. After the fire Tripple AAA canceled grandmas fire insurance. Her house was un touched but it did burn up to the back fence...

all of our dr appointments work like that here
I went to my Oncologist appointment and I had my son along to get me a wheel chair. He wasnt allowed in they provided an attendant to bring the chair out run me through check in and on to the Clinic. They told me that they would have no Visitor rule in three months when my next appointment is.

So I can go myself. I like the new restrictions and How UCSD works to keep it less complex.
