Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Ponders good morning one and all!

The temperature is 61 and mostly cloudy.

I have a Barred Rock that sits on the nest all day.

She is puffed up like a toad and grumbles at me when I take the eggs.

I DO NOT have a rooster.

Have a great day!

Then you should get fertile eggs or buy chicks in a few weeks. :thumbsup

I do not have a rooster, either. That’s why I’m hoping to put purchased babies under mine.

Morning Pond folks still wet here. 7 eggs dies unknown reason but 1 still zipped .. Have the 9 from my little incubator due easter all in the big incubator now.

I have large collection of dog crates hard sided and exhibition type.

@Alaskan the one on the right is my Orp pullet that just laid her first egg. The one on the left is my normal sized 5 yr old Buff Orp.
ETA: forgot to mention that this is a pic of the smaller "pullet".

Sorry for the bad pic. I was trying to get a good shot of the one I only got half of so you could see the unusual feathering on her back but at least you can tell on the bottom one how they have black faces and underlaying. Their "Buff" is still a bit muddy but it is getting brighter. I haven't tried to weigh them yet.
