Good Evening, Pond!

Nice and sunny today. Went to the chiropractor after 3 days of severe knee pain. My back was out of whack, affecting my pelvis which caused the muscle that goes across the top of my knee to become tight. My knee feels better, but the rest of me hurts. (It usually does after I see her, then after a couple of days, I realize that I don’t hurt anymore.)

I was barely home when my mother called. I answered, and didn’t even get a hello out of her just an, “I need you to come over.” in a very tense voice. She saw a snake in her bedroom, and wanted me to come get it out. (DH went along, but stayed outside. He doesn’t like snakes.) After doing some looking and moving things around, I didn’t find it so she came in to help me look. She picked up a rug, and there it was. A little garter snake, maybe a foot long and about as big around as my pinkie. She screamed, dropped the rug and fled from the room. I caught the poor little thing and carried it outside. I told DH, “Found it.” He said, “I heard.” 🤣 Mother plans on sleeping in her living room tonight. I don’t blame her for being upset. I wouldn’t want a snake in my bedroom either.

Checked on my broody this evening. I set her three weeks ago tomorrow with 12 eggs. Apparently only 7 made it this far. She had 5 dry little fluff balls, one that looks like it got crushed before or during hatching and one intact egg left in the nest. If that hasn’t hatched by tomorrow I will discard it.
