yes....usually you have weaned them off it gradually by this age. It's okay to do it that way...

We use the MHP (Mama Heating Pad), and start them off at 6.... then every week go down a number... so week 2 the HP will be at 5.. week 3 at 4, week 4 at 3, etc etc.....

I used the MHP in my coop brooder, started on 5. Temps were mid 20's at night and upper 40's during the day. At the end of the fifth week, I took the MHP out and had a small roost for them to use, in the brooder.

I have the Premier 1 in the brooder. Can’t slowly change the temp. So I should just remove it? Sorry, first time raising chickens.
