Looked out the window and saw Daphne haring round the garden with something dangling from her beak, she was being hotly persued by the other 6 girls
I went to check and too my horror discovered it was a baby pheasant! Very dead by now
The girls all legged it behind trees and when they appeared the poor little creature was in three parts!
The silly baby must have wandered into the garden through the smallest hole as we are netproofed against foxes
Not sure if it’s okay they they ate it? Feathers and all? Ugghh!!

i think its ok but i guess u should just watch them for now

they eat worms.... ugh....
it's natural for them to eat small critters, you should see them play keep away with a mouse or lizard... very funny to watch!

Mine eat huge frogs all the time Run around for a bit so that everyone knows what they have and then they just deep throat it. Like HUGE frogs. 5 inches.

yep - no such thing as a vegetarian chicken - they are omnivorous - they eat bugs and all sorts.

Try watching them catch flies to eat!

It is normal and ok that they ate it.....even if it is disturbing.

I accidentally put my coop right next to a big gardener snake den. last week the snakes all started to wake up & come out of the den. they slithered right into the run. Was pure chaos! All my chickens went crazy catching & eating the snakes! They must’ve killed & eaten a good dozen snakes before the rest got wise & ran for it. I’ve got 11 chickens so they got lots of extra protein that day.
