So this is my first time back on byc in a while, high school has been so hectic! I'm saddened to see this post completely dissing me, Madison, I know you're upset about this whole thing, but I'd prefer if you told the whole story.
"The last couple of days a hawk killed several of our best hens, and now my friend is set on selling every single chicken as soon as possible. Even though we could keep our favorite four and put them in the smaller coop which is predator proof, which you could probably put 10 chickens in if you wanted to. But no, she says "they're used to freedom, it wont be fair". So put them in the big horse stall, I say. "No, they might get mites like last time". If we cleaned the stall more often they wouldn't. So she's set on selling all of them."
I wasn't set on selling them and using this as an excuse! We lost 4 hens in less than 3 days which is the worst massacre we've ever had and I just can't deal with going out and finding another favorite pet torn to pieces. It's basically a death trap to leave them in their current situation, and the coop "big enough for 10 chickens" is maybe comfortable for 3 but def not 10!!! And no, living in a stall unable to see the sun for the rest of their life is not an option.
"She doesn't spend one dime on those chickens. Her mother pays for the food, and I pay for the REST. I've spent probably close to $500 in the past year alone buying chickens, buying eggs, buying coops, paying for the entry fees for shows, paying for GAS most of all driving too and from shows and picking up chickens all the time."
Don't even go there on money with me again! I buy the food, not my mom, and EVERYTHING you've ever bought ie: eggs and a few chooks have been reimbursed by my parents!!! They have bought 3 inubators, the $150 cochins you had to have, the d'anvers, two coops, and payed for your gas along the way. My mom takes us to shows where she pays for hotels, gas, and food...so please leave money out of this. It makes me really sad to know that this is how you repay me for the years I've let you keep chickens at our house...I'm sorry it had to end this way.
