I do not expect anyone to pay to feed my animals, but TSC, Lowes or Even Home Depot would have been more practical. Besides, the nearest Dollar Tree is over 1/2 hour away from me , meaning I would spend a good bit in fuel to drive there and back.

I'm sorry that you're so disappointed in your gift. Sounds like the best thing to do would be to donate it to a church, women's shelter, animal shelter, or regift it to someone who needs it and can appreciate it.

IMHO it sounds like a laziness gift. I'd suspect that she stopped in to pick up something and grabbed the gift card to save another stop.

Last year I got 3 rolls of Spree candy from my SIL. I got her a Kindle 3. I know that it's the thought that counts but when the thought is too shallow it is better to not give at all.
