Define Rooster noises? Tidbitting is done by both genders.

Looks like a pullet too me. Silver pullets can have red on them too. But instead of gold(Females can only be gold, or Silver), they can have red from Autosomal Red though.

I don’t think I have any hens that do have that- can it be hidden in a hen but show in a chick? It’s mainly the specific placement of the rust that’s getting to me.

And yes I think it’s tidbitting? The noise roosters make when they pick up and put down food while calling the hens

Maybe? the repetitive noise they make while picking up and putting down a treat for the hens. I had one of my old cockerels start doing that around this age as well

That is called food clucking, also known as tidbitting. Both genders do that, but cockerels and roosters do it more in order to attract hens. Most of the time they lie about finding food, like how my Blue Cochin Bantam cockerel, Slate, will pick up a piece of poop and set it down while doing his annoying clucking.

I’ve seen my roosters try with feathers before.. I’ve only heard cockerels make that noise this early. I’m glad she still has a chance!

If you have red, or golden birds they can be carrying Autosomal Red. I discovered my silkies carry it last year.


Tidbitting is done by both genders, & chicks, or juveniles will do it also when they find a goody, & would like to share it.
