I just received my brand new Meyer Hatchery catalog and they sell diapers and saddles!

I never thought I'd see the day a commercial hatchery would cater to backyarders.

Are "backyarders" a detestable sort of folk? And what does catering mean? A company wants to make money by selling products that they perceive a demand for??? Gosh, sounds American to me

No, it's just that in the past there have not been enough small backyard breeders that commercial hatcheries would see that the demand could be profitable. That they now do means that our numbers have grown enough that we are being recognized as a viable market.​
