My grandparents raised 1000's of animals on their farms - all with well water and made a decent living doing so.
The ONLY problem with wells is bacteria. And it's an easy enough fix. Simply shock treat the well with chlorine. After an hour, run the water in the hoses to flush out and you are done. You can look online for instructions or a well company will do it for you. Most people never do this. Some, as a precaution, do it regularly. Trust me, if there were problems with bacteria in your well, you'd be sick soon after drinking the water.
