Welp?

I have loved Welp! Our Cochin order was shipped on June 1st and we had them on June 3rd. They were mostly in great shape (we lost 1 and 1 has cross beak, missing eye and short leg) but they had sent 10 extra chicks so we ordered 25 and they sent 35.
Good luck!

Wow, that is an interesting order! It's kind of like being a kid in a candy shop with so many choices, huh? I think it is fun to try out breeds to see what suits you.

We are getting Welsummers, Delawares, Jersey Giants, and Ameracaunas. I still have not heard they aren't coming, so It's tomorrow or Thursday!

Our peeps came this morning, got the call at 6:15 and picked them up 15 minutes later! They were loud and a little cold I think. But so far, no problems, all are eating and drinking and really loud. One bird is super loud, maybe a Jersey Giant? We are in love with them all.

So, they were sent Monday and they were here bright and early Wednesday. I looked at the shipping stickers and determined they came from New Mexico via Lubbock Texas! I am impressed by the speed of delivery and quality.

My 10 year old daughter is really excited about the chicks. We are thinking about starting a little 4-H club with a couple of her friends. Have you done 4-H? Thought I'd ask since you are a teen. Did you like it? It seems like a good learning experience for her.

We've had chickens for 12 hours. Really! Our parents were farm people and we have wanted chikens for years but just moved to the country a couple of years ago and finally got around to building a coop. At some point I'll post pics of our coop in the coop contest. We are calling it "Two Tree Chicken House" because we have a fir tree shaped like a 2! You have to see it to belive it!

I have ordered from them twice and I'm very pleased.Last year I ordered 15 red star and 10 buff orpington pullets got 2 BO roos but all happy and healthy. This year I got 5 Blue Cochin (BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!!) fully feathered and good quality, 5 Blue Wyandotte, 8 Delawares, 8 Black Stars but got 9.All pullets and so far it seems that way but they are 8 weeks old so may still get a surprise who knows.Over all I am completly satisified!
Very strong healthy chicks.I got a confirm deliver date and was spot on!

That great you guys! I am so happy for you guys!!!!! I have never been in 4-H. I whanted chickens out of the blue. We had frends that had them and i liked them. But i did not think i would like them this much! I am the main care taker but mom and dad buy the stuff i need till i can get a job! Then i will bulid a nother coop! LOL So were are the pics? You guys are crazzy not posting pics!

I ordered from Welp early this year over the phone. They never sent an email confirmation (they did have my email address), but I did get an invoice in the mail shortly after ordering. Basically, no news was good news as the delivery date approached. My first order shipped on a Wed. and arrived on a Sat. There were about 15 DOAs in the group of 50+ pullets due to the length in transit, but there were about 7 extra chicks.

They reshipped the next week the 15, and did not subtract for the extra chicks. I was pleasantly surprised. Again, there was no confirmation email for the reshipment, but there was an invoice in the mail within 2 days. Every chick arrived alive and healthy. They shipped on a Monday and they arrived on a Wed. that time. Both times they shipped out of the same NM zip as Privett.

All the chickens, after corresponding with the other folks that went in on the order with me, have been healthy. One person got a male black australorp that was supposed to be a pullet in the first group which is about 16 weeks old now. There is one Buff Orp and a speckled sussex that the verdict is still out on from the second group, but so far they look a bit more like pullets than cockerels at 15 weeks, and they live across the street. Statistically, Welp did better than 90% on the sexing of our chicks. We were expecting 5-7 cockerels. There were no cross beaks or other deformities in either shipment.

A friend and I purchased 6 more Easter Eggers from a local feed store. They said they were pullets. So far we have one cockerel, and 3 other maybes in the 6. In the future, instead, I will always go straight to the hatchery to order and I will use Welp.

It sounds like Welp ships from NM (Privett?) to the west coast since the last post is California and I'm Washington. I am sorry to hear how your first shipment went, but it sounds like they tried to work it out with you. Welp describes itself as a family owned buisness, but I guess that family must include the Privetts?

Our 25 are all thriving and growing fast. One had some mild pasty butt, but I rinsed her tush off a few times and now she looks good. They are now 5 or 6 days old, active and eating like pigs. so far very happy with Welp!

It's your third time ordering from them and you don't know if they send a confirmation e-mail? I ordered once from Ideal, my first ever, and I can tell you that they not only send an e-mail or two, but also called me on the phone twice. Good garden o' peas.
