Welsumer Hens

I love that non speckled terra cotta egg! Beautiful!

Estes probably the best bet for good Welsummers. As far as I know, they wont start back up until next year and in limited time. I got only one pullet from that hatchery, the rest of the girls are from different breeders. In three or six months time, I will find out what this Estes girl will produce.

Just got a response from Estes and they will have them again in March, which would be perfect as I plan on getting new chicks in mid-April...

We got a trio of Wellies that originally came from mothergoose (we got them from a lady who hatched them). We have a beautiful roo and 2 hens that are 21 weeks old. They are very friendly and the roo is not aggressive towards us at all but very watchful of the hens. They are not laying yet but we hope soon! The hens are very "talkative" they just cruise around the run clucking and chatting at you. Very cute!! We also have 2, 9 week old wellie pullets. We hope to integrate them in with the older ones after the first of the year. So we should have 4 hens and a roo. They will be in a coop by themselves. So fertile eggs should be for sale and possibly chicks here in TN sometime in the spring!!

Great thread for a great breed!!

Min. order is 25 chicks. Not sure about shipping charges.

I haven't totally given up on a local source. I will go to a bird swap coming sunday. I might get lucky and find a contact that has good Welsumers.
