Hi everyone, I've got some 2 week old chicks, 2 barnevelders and 1 welsummer.

Any ideas on sex? I know it's early, but I will update this thread with pics as they grow.

My guesses are B1 cockerel , B2 cockerel and W pullet.

Also, have I labelled the breeds right?

Oh thanks. I wasn't sure if I'd got it right.

By that reckoning then, if I'm right on sex then I've probably got 1 welsummer pullet and 2 barnevelder cockerels. Gah! I want a barnevelder pullet!!!
I don't see anything that says cockerels with the Barnies yet. Don't give up hope. 6 weeks is a good age to start sexing them.

Update 12 weeks old.

I'm pretty convinced I've got two cockerels now. Nobody crowing or mounting yet but I've seen some suspicious looking thin shiny feathers on B1's back. I already thought B2 was a cockerel.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong. I wanted lovely dark brown eggs and they have been the friendliest loveliest chicks!

UPDATE at 4 weeks old

Pretty sure the Welsummer is a pullet. She has ginger chest feathers not black.

The Barnevelders I can't make up my mind on yet. They are very different from each other in colour. Barney 1 is dark and Barney 2 is light. Barney 2 is a day younger than Barney 1 and its feather development is probably 2 days behind. Both of them have chest feathers coming in that are laced not solid colour. I'm swinging towards Barney 1 being male and Barney 2 female. What do you think?

aged 5 weeks update!

I'm worried they are both boys, but possibly B1 is a pullet? It seems rounder in shape and has feathered in quicker.
