Well, it was raining so we didn't go to the auction last night. I still have these beautiful Welsummer, RIR and Buff Orpington cockerels FS. Make you a great deal if you come get a couple!
These are my first Welsummers, so I cant say exactly what the adults are like. These are sweet birds, a bit skittish at the moment since I had a large hatch and cant spend quality time with each one, but one of the pullets sat on my lap of her own volition the other day. One of the cockerels especially is very friendly, jumping on my back when I bend over, LOL. Maybe someone with Welsummer experience can elaborate on this one.
I don't have any first hand experience yet, of course. BUT I have heard while listening to lots of Welsummer-related conversations that these guys are often a bit skittish while young, but tend to calm down and gain confidence as they mature -- to end up as friendly and curious birds once adult.
I have heard good things about the Welsummer rooster temperament from breeders and other owners. So far, none are aggressive toward me at all. A couple are crowing now at 7 weeks old.
Folks, these Welsummers from mothergoose and Buff Orpingtons from hinkjc are still available! The RIRs are sold and so is the Welsummer pair. So, there are five Wellie cockerels and two Buff Orp cutie-roos, all seven weeks old or so.
