Hi! I just hatched out two Welsummer (roo) crossed with either a Rhode Island Red or Barred Rock (not sure which hen). The chicks look exactly like Welsummers (wildtype coloration). The chicks have the brown striping, "eyeliner," and the brown triangular marking at the head--just as a Welsummer pullet would. I'm anxious to hear other opinions...is this a pullet? Do the crosses stay true to male/female color like Welsummers do?

They are cross breeds, so no, they will not breed true. You're gonna have to wait a few more weeks to know the boys from the girls. If they were from your barred hen, you would be able to tell right away. Barred hen and any non-barred roo would make black sexlinks. These probably came from the RIR.
