Welsummer or Easter Egger?

The more I think about it, the more I think leghorn. TS had leghorn pullets () about 2 weeks ago. They didnt have any welsummers until this past week. He/she looks at least 2 wks old.
I'm going to keep hoping girl because I'm an eternal optimist...my current rooster is still called" Doris".

That would make sense. Way to be optimistic!
:highfive:

She looks like a brown leghorn to me, and if it is a brown leghorn then it is also a she. Cockerel BLs feather in with black chest feathers, so do silvers.

These are silvers btw.

Actually, they are both hens. (Pullets at the time)

Sorry for the delayin answering, we've been busy preparing for the storm to hit the area today and tomorrow. Had to make sure we had everything ready!
Thank you. I am so sorry that you are in the storm area. I will say a heartfelt prayer for you, your family, & your animals.

Oh, and leghorns pullets do get rather large combs so don't freak out over that if it happens!

Here is once of them a few weeks later

And this was before they started laying

Oh, and one of my blh hens has a spur too!
Thanks for the info. I raised some lavender orps recently, their combs & wattles were both so red and large that I thought I had all roos. Turned out that I be two hens and 4 roos. Out of 8 chicks, including two barnyard mix I got 2 pullets! I kept the two barnyard mix roosters so I'm adding to my hens...I hope.:fl

@RowanTheRed those are some attractive birds. I had never considered getting leghorns but now I'm glad I have one. I just hope she or he isnt too flighty. Our runs are completely covered but our chicken yard only has a 4' high fence. I have a boxer who isn't chicken friendly so we don't free range but both runs & the yard are quite large.

they are pretty flighty, I had to put 3 rows of wire above our fence to TRY and deter them from going into the neighbor's yard. They still manage to get over it but I have found that if I offer lots of areas in my yard to find bugs and treats they are less likely to go over it.

they are decent layers, but not everyday layers. My 2 average about 45 eggs a month. One of mine is quiet the talker, she often seems to be laughing at me. The other is very friendly and curious about everything.

My grandfather was named Doris... And my grandmother is Willie!
