welsummer or not?

does any1 have pics of a chick thats 2-3 weeks old that is a welsummer? we have 3 chicks...2 def. rir 1 not so sure...it has a little black line from the corner of its eye...like an egyptian, or eyeliner extended too far...not noticed this on other rir...also its feathers are not 100% 1 colour...theyre kinda abit spotty....slightly...but noticible enuff to me...though the older it gets the less obvious they are...partner used to show chooks.... many many moons ago and hes unsure if its either...hes on the fence though hes leaning rir...

I just checked and I don't have any piectures of my welsummers at that age. From you description it does sound like I remember my welsummers looking. Their faces didn't have any markings around the eyes and the top of the head had a much darker brown vee than the rest of the head.

Speckled Sussex look similar to Welsummers at that age.

oh yea i 4got...it has a dark brown strip on its head...well its feathering over now...but at the same age the others were all yellow...those were the 2 things that were diff at the fluff stage...the "eyeliner" and the strip on the head

Btw, I have sexed Welsummers with 100% accuracy from their headcap markings.

nah it doesnt look qutie like that...the feathers on the wings r like that only the colours arent as defined...theyre lighter...and the downy fluff is waay lighter...a yellowy colour...and its got a brown bit on its head...a fairly large section, not just a small spot, but only on its head not down its neck...then theres the black line from the end of the eye...ill have to take a pic when i can

Where did you get them from? What did they say they were?

theyre from a hatchery...theyre ment to be rir...all 3, and ment to be day old chicks...i know the 2 u can see clearly werent day old...id say more 3-4 days...but the 1 in the middle was more then likely just 1 day old...not sure if theyre even from the same batch/ppl/hens cuz they were in a cage with some plym.rocks and 1 other breed i cant member but all were ment to be day old and some were clearly not 1 day old...i feel confident that the 1 in the middle and the 1 at the back are rir but that front 1 im still unsure...u cant see the darker top on the head from the shot but i was thinking the other night...is it possible that its slightly diff cuz its a sexlink? or is that not how the whole "sexlink" thing works? i guess in the end it doesnt matter what it is as long as its female! i already have a roo im attached to...ooo home icecreams here! (sorry u may not know what that is...a truck that sells icecream boxes crazy cheap!) sorry for that..lets redirect...
