I din't think it was Welsummers. Who knows?Don't welsummers have the sex related head striping? Based on the coloring around the eyes and head I think it's a cockerel.

Some hens can have larger combs, but not like that, at such a young age. Usually I would say its too young to sex, but since it has such a large comb, and red, there isn't hardly a chance of it being a pullet.Yes the comb is large. However, some hens can have very large combs too. All depends on the breed!

Yes, I wouldn't give up just yet. He/she can't cause harm for a few more weeks, so there shouldn't be a problem keeping it!If you don't mind waiting a couple more months, then you will know for sure.
Did it look like any of the chicks in the pics on this blog post? Also how can you not have baby pictures??? I guess it is hard to get them to sit still for a pic!
