So I went to TSC today and they wont have ducklings till tommorrow or thursday.

But they had chicks - So i was holding some chicks, using hand sanatizer before moving from one bin to the next.

The employees there are kind of rude and not very animal knowledgeable.

So anywho, an old guy who doesnt work there came up to me and told me to read a sign - it was a caution when handeling chicks sign. I told him yes, I did see it and he proceeded to rudley tell me to read it and use the germ x.

I read it and here is what it said :

" No nuzzling or kissing chicks or ducklings"

I just love it when older people assume the worst out of meddlesome teens. I wanted to let him know ive been raising poultry for four years but instead just said yes sir, gave him a thank you and a cheery smile. Im glad that they warn their customers and seem to watch out with kids holding the chicks for the chicks safety, I just find it hilarious that I probably know more about ducks and such than he does!

Not sure if you read my experience, but the same thing happened. It says use caution when handling but the old guy just said "Dont touch them!" So I just said sorry but I also felt like telling him my experience with poultry, but I didnt. I guess they just assume most teens don't know what they are doing.

Yeah, I read you post. It makes me so mad when people work around animals and know nothing about them. I was at a petstore the other day and got a free rabbit, the guy told me it was a girl, that he checked. SO I double checked and thr rabbit was most definantly male - even someone who didnt know anything about rabbits could tell it was a boy just by looking.

Ive had people think I was a sixty year old little old lady when talking with me on the computer, but then when ever they meet me everyone is like "ohh... You're Kate?"

I just love the reactions when i start talking about ducks though, lol, I can just see the drool comming out of their dropped jaws some times.

On the one hand Im glad he was "concerned" because most people is general know little to nothing about ducks and chickens. But on the other hand he didnt need to be so rude!

You should've told the old man to go pound sand. The only thing worse than a know-it-all teen is a know-it-all senior.

I'm somewhere in between the two and proudly admit that I don't know much.

I agree with Shay20. I would not have been so nice and kindly informed him that I raise chicks and ducks.

Our store does not have either. They said the 15th, whatever!! I have them in the bator. Keep waiting, and I will not need theirs!!
