Were hatching our first seramas,, i hear chirping, what shouldnt i do?

What should you do? Probably leave the building to remove yourself from temptation. But you won't do that. That is just too hard to do.

You should leave them alone and get the brooder ready. The more you fool with them, the more your chances of causing a disaster.

One risk is that you will shrink-wrap them if you open the incubator and let the humidity out. If the humidity drops too low, that membrane inside the egg shell can dry out and stick to the chick. The chick cannot move enough to continue with hatching. The risk is much greater if the egg has pipped. This does not happen each and every time you open the incubator during lockdown. Some incubators are more forgiving than others. Some eggs seem tougher than others. I shrink-wrapped one when I opened the incubator during hatch, but only one. The others were OK. It was just the one.

Some people open the incubator and take chicks out during the hatch and seem to not have a problem. Some of us shrink-wrap chicks when we do that. My advice is to just leave them alone.

Good luck with the hatch. Sounds like you are doing great.

Leave them alone.. I just hatched 13 out of 13 .. I left them alone and 11 hatched by themselves.. I helped 2 but only after 24 hours after they pip'd..One piped on the small end. and one i didn't see the pip but when I took it out the pip was on the bottom.. Looked in the egg and it was shrink wrapped.. I just wetted the inner membrane and yanked him out.. Both are doing fine now..
