We're in for subzero temps. I'd love some idea for making the coop more entertaining

Mine are NOT going out. not even peeking their heads out.

I have to go out today and add more shavings.

I even shoveled out the walk for them to go to the outside play house. Nope. not today
hahahha

mine did do the head peek and then they were like hellll no and ran back in.

Holy crap it is going to be cold this week.
I didn't really realize it till today.
I HAVE to get out of the house so going to the mall to Eye shop.

@Amy Carter What time are you opening up the Coop door?
I usually do it at about 9am but if it is going to be so cold maybe I might want to wait till later?
I do close it when they decide not to hang out in the opening.

I have an unusual coop situation because my husband has a workshop and the coop is built off the back of it so it gets heated by the shop heating. Then there's a pulley that opens a window for them to go outside and down the stairs . When it's not obscenely cold outside I put them out in the morning and in at sundown. But this is just ridiculous. Below zero is dumb.

I have an wrapped off run so they don't have to sit in the coop all day and I layer that bad boy end to end with chopped straw. They scratch and peck for hours getting all the little seeds out of it.

that's awesome! what is the run covered with? I'm wondering what will withstand the snow weight.

Ok it is 2 degrees out F here and it is just about 9 am !!
Weather says that we will hit 10 F at about 2 PM !! Not sure I even want to open the door for them.
Yeah that IS dumb ! No way I could live in Alaska...

I was going to go out and do a couple errands. One of them was to pick up Sand at the DPW. I bet it would be all rock hard :(

I have to go out at some point to give them some corn to warm up and check the water level.
DARN glad I got the Heated Dog Bowl !!!
