I got a call yesterday from the town science teacher and he said he had 13 chicks hatch from the eggs I gave him.
He wasn't sure which were which except for the 3 frizzles that hatched.
I have a beautiful cochin roo as the dad on those.
The others are mixed, the rooster is a black copper marans and the hens would have been olive eggers, easter eggers (which will make olive eggers) and orpingtons and such.
I will figure it out when I look at them.
He is dropping them off on Monday except for the three he is keeping until spring so the kids can watch them grow. I will get those back as well.
He wants to keep a frizzle, an easter egger looking one and a black one.
He wants more eggs on Monday too, he said if you ever want me to hatch some for you let me know, he said he will hatch them all year for me if I like.
I don't even have to worry about incubating eggs myself, this is awesome.
He says he is going to need a large amount of eggs come spring for the individual classrooms to do their hatches.
So anyway, I won't be able to keep them all and will bring them to the swaps if anyone is interested in some fun mixes, I won't bring very young ones during the cold weather though but if there is any interest let me know.
On another note, the town animal inspector came on Monday and did his surprised inspection, all went perfectly and I am licensed for another year.
