Does anyone know if the Westminster City Council is going to consider allowing chickens? Is there a current petition that anyone is going to present? Where does the process stand right now? I have seen posts from 2008 & 2009, and a very disheartening one last year in 2012 that made the council seem unfriendly towards chickens.

I have found a lovely fixer-upper I would like to buy in Westminster, CO. However, if my lovely clucking ladies are going to be outlaws... I'll have to take my home buying business elsewhere :)

Chickens and bees ordinance passes
(Aug 11, 2015)

...
An ordinance amendment that will allow for the keeping of bees and chickens on single family residential lots in the city was approved on second reading by the Westminster City Council on Monday, Aug. 10, by a 5-2 vote.
The new ordinance will take effect on Sunday, Nov. 8, (90 days after the second reading approval date).
Note: It will not be legal to keep chickens or bees until the new ordinance takes effect on Sunday, Nov. 8.
Once the new ordinance takes effect, most single family residential properties will be allowed up to two beehives and six chickens with an approved permit from the city, subject to the regulations and limitations contained in the ordinance.
Homeowners associations (HOAs) may still restrict or prohibit the keeping of bees and/or chickens through their covenants. Families located in covenant-controlled communities may not be allowed to participate.
Get background information on the keeping of bees and chickens within the city.
View the Aug. 10 agenda memo for additional information.
