Wet Mash

The only problem with feeding wet mash may be when they get older and still expect it . . . you might theoretically have problems with their refusing to eat regular pellets.

You might even have to prepare fresh mash for them every day of their adult lives . . . even going out in the pouring rain to bring their fresh goodies in a little bowl.

Theoretically speaking, of course. I would never spoil my little lovies like that.

lol.

This is perfect because one baby had a pasty butt yesterday. I hardly ever see them drink, so this will take care of hydration. I gave them a little like this yesterday when they were outside. I should have done this before now.

thanks for the idea!

I realized recently that, even though my hens have 24/7 access to pellets, they will eat a bowl full of soaked pellets (like chicken-feed porridge) in a few minutes, going crazy over it.

I was wondering, will they eat all they NEED during the day from the dry pellets, and the wet mash is just a yummy treat that will be converted into mega-poop over night, or will feeding them extra wet feed help them grow faster/bigger sooner? I love treating them with some wet pellets (can you think of a cheaper treat than that??), but if it's basically just increasing their poop loads with no added nutritional benefit, I may start feeding them less of it lol
