Sometimes it does seem that way.

It usually takes 18 to 24 hours after pipping. Now I know how an expectant father feels!

I have an egg that has been peeping for 3 days and has a small hole chipped out on the side next to the incubator wall. It gets really loud sometimes, but is not doing anymore chipping on shell. I've never seen this before.

How long has the hole(pip) been there? They can start peeping before they pip. After the external pip they can take anywhere between 24-48 hours to hatch. Once they start to zip the shell it usually isn't long for them to hatch out.

The hole has been there almost as long. At least 3 days now. And he's still peeping.

I have 3 chicks that have hatched this morning, 3 eggs pipped, and 2 eggs still hanging in there. I'm incubating under a broody hen and we weren't due until tomorrow so, pleasant surprise for me this morning!!
