We've lost our Fluffy!

Be sure to do what MuleMom said about checking everything that's closed! When I was growing up we had a cat that dissapeared. After three days my Mother open a built in drawer in the wall in my brother's bedroom, to put some stuff away. (My brothers were older and not home much by then)...there was the cat; she'd jumped in and because the drawer was on a roller thing, it just rolled shut with her inside! I guess she didn't say much or we couldn't hear her; she didn't even go to the bathroom in there! No harm done, but it was memorable!

Country girl, we have a cat who found us in '98. He's neutered, but still "prowls". He's sometimes gone for weeks on end. I've mourned him as "gone forever" more than once, only to have him turn up and act as if "What's the big deal? So, you missed me, huh?"

Here's hoping your Fluffy comes walking in with the same attitude!

I recently lost my cat, Hershey-she was a travelin' girl, & graced us with her presence for 6 months.Then, one morning 2 weeks ago, was gone as quick as she came.My male chihuahua, Poncho, was heartbroken( she would groom him CONSTANTLY!)I hope for your sons sake, she comes home safe( & probably pregnant!) I have my share of magical now you see the cat, now you see no cat stories also.

But the wisdom I have is that a cat that is freaked can be reminded of who you are if you are armed with food. The commercial cat catchers use canned mackeral for bait because it is almost irresistable to most cats.

When you go out to search the shadows and call for Fluffy, take a sandwhich baggie of canned mackeral with you and bait strategic areas for a couple of days.

This worked when my BonBon was truely angry with me and lived for seven weeks under the neighbors trailer. Thank God the rainy season finally came so she wanted to come home.

I appreciate the help. Fluffy has been a spayed female for years. She and my other 2 cats have a kitty door to go in and out, since we are so far in the country. But she always comes home. She sleeps 23 out of 24 hrs a day in her chair and with my son, so I can't imagine what happened. Still no luck at all.
The afternoon of her leaving... we were outside relaxing Fluff was w'us. But for some reason she was acting strange. Not her usual self. It was like she wasn't comfortable in her own skin. She was very twitchy. That is the last time we saw her.
I would try baiting her but these feral cats that I feel are the culprits to her disappearance would eat anything that I left for her.
I have cried, searched, called you name it. To no avail! I guess we just have to let go and let God. I don't know what else to do. I can't sleep nights... just hoping I'll hear the kitty door pop open and there she'll be! Fluff has such a huge personality. Only 2 other cats from my past could even get close to what she is to us. Why did it have to be her?
Fluffy...come back to us. We need you we love you!!!

You are correct about attracting the feral cats.

The trailor park that BonBon ran away to was populated by feral cats, and they were all attracted to my baits.

I rented a live trap cage from the feedstore and caught a number of hungry cats. There were people who fed the starving waifs but the feeding stations were overwhelmed by the numbers of needy felines.

It really helped having the feeding stations because it centralized the cats.

The cats liked to see me because I would share with them part of the sandwich bag (half a can) of mackeral I would be carrying. They called me "The Fish Lady", and they were easier to deal with.

I certainly am praying for your Fluffies safe return. Be sure to walk the area and remind her of who she is and why she wants to come back.
