What’s the next big thing after the Orpington craze?

this...

i dunno, but all i see online for sale and such are OEGB and silkies... so i figure the market for them is >* of the chickens... i thought there was a mini craze for light sussex... since they're so expensive... but what do i know... i'm just basing it on what sells online the most...

LF Cochins.....after tonight. (when I went out to check on my three...roo and two hens and they were in the corner of the run instead of their new coop and the roo was covering his two girls with his wings to keep the snow off of them!)
Sweetest chickens ever. Good mommas. I personally am going to see that my flock of LF Cochins increases.

Love my BO rooster. Non agressive, good to his girls....could not ask for a nicer roo.

Love my BR girls....and have a love/hate relationship with my BR roo...

I am going with the cochins....

What about the other poultry like Sebastopol geese and Call Duck? They seemed to be booming and are starting to slow down...

I for one would love to see bantam langshans and maybe golden laced orps but I'm not a big orp fan maybe some rarer colors of Japanese Bantams?

These are great looking. I don't think we had them in the US.

Hey Henry,
Here is one for you, my Salmon Silkies, the best of both worlds!

LOL, i just drove 200 miles today to pick up 8 blue giant cochins... they're just feathering up, but i'm so in love with them already... hopefully, i only get two roo's out of the group... i wish there were lavenders though... i'm still going thru the lav phase... LOL...

I would hardly say there is an Orpington craze. I have just started to show mine. And usually IF I don't bring at least 6 or 8, those numbers of Orps shown are not even double digits. At a show go look at the numbers of Silkies and Seramas compared to Orps. Then tell me about the Orp craze again.

Since fewer than 1% of chicken owners "show," their chickens, I don't think the show room would qualify as a place to discover the latest trends or craze.

I agree with alot of the posters ..... Orpingtons, in all varieties! We (USA) don't have as many varieties as England, and would welcome the additional eye candy!

There is also alot of interest in the old breeds lately. "Heritage," or whatever one calls them..... I think that could also be the next big craze!
