I'm currently re-reading Skinny Legs And All by Tom Robbins. With his books, it helps to read with a willingness to ride the crazy train--you get somewhere interesting but it takes a while. The scenery along the way is wild and lyric, but maybe not for those of delicate sensibilities.

Just got moved into our newly built house, trying to finish it (trim, built-ins, etc) and I totally let myself run out of fiction! I typically buy used or go to the library, but lately have been re-re-reading the small bit of fiction we keep on our shelves.

Now I'm going to read this entire thread of pages--you never know when somebody's recommendation becomes one of your favorite authors!

Any suggestions for a light, distracting read on kindle Unlimited? ( Preferably something that isn't vulgar or filled with soft porn.)
I'd love to read a good mystery or a comedy. No drama right now. Lol.

I try to stick with the freebies (well, not free but those included in the unlimited plan) and I generally buy paperbacks from thrift books every couple of months.

Try House of Silk. It's an authorized Sherlock Holmes story not by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Have you tried books by Terry Pratchett?
A family member recommended them to me, and I've just read several:
Guards, Guards
Men at Arms
Feet of Clay

I kept saying, "Listen to this bit!" to various people in the house, because it was funny enough that I had to share.
I didn't notice it being vulgar (a small amount could have slipped past me, but I'm sure there was not a lot), and I'm pretty sure it's free of soft porn.

I had a bit of trouble at the beginning of Guards, Guards because it kept skipping around to different groups of characters, but either it improved or I got used to it after a bit

I'm pretty much sticking to kindle unlimited but I'll check out all of the above when next I order from thrift paperbacks.
