What’s In A Name?

Pics
I hung around a gal who was half Japanese....
I said how do you say thank you in Japanese She laughed...
""Doo itashimashite"" But if you say "Don't Touch my Mustache" they will understand what you mean.... :gig

Hey ... it was just a funny story.... dont shoot the messanger.
That's "You're welcome". Thank you is: doomo, arigato, doomo arigato, gozaimasu, arigato gozaimasu. There are multiple layers of thank you

Something similar, if you were to mouth the words, “Elephant juice,” your mouth’s movements are the exact same as when you say, “I love you.” :gig

@Chickassan I actually read your name as chick assassin.
I do too, really. :gig Or maybe “Mamasan.” Don’t know if that’s spelled right and not sure of the real meaning. Just know that many oriental women are called that (have seen it in several war movies.) I have no idea if it relates to a certain job/status though, so don’t shoot me.

Sure sure. Because google is a reliable translator over a dictionary published in japan. Try google translate and put it back through. You come up with nonsense. I wasnt trying to argue i was trying to present her with a fact to be helpful.
 because your book has alllll the answers, I would be willing to bet there are other ways of saying mother that wernt included in that book as well. you could try not being confrontational it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. thats not what this thread is about.

Lol! My husband is Japanese and this is the same method I use when attempting to converse with obaasan.

95 percent of the time she just nods and agrees with me because she has no idea what I'm trying to say:lau

"The Moonshiner" was a nickname I picked up in junior high/high school.
I later used it as a pen name when writing.
Now its what I use on forums.

I thought maybe it came from a hobby

Cheers!
