Guinea Guinea Guinea....Have you ever thought about getting guineas?
I think its a trade off one on one for bug eating.... But Guineas serve an additional function... They are walking burglar alarms.... This includes people, buckets in the wrong spot, My PINK Bathrobe... Hawks,Yeah I hear guineas are pretty dumb but I think they might eat more bugs than chickens, if you were wanting just bug control I thought guineas might be better.
BWahahahahnnnYep there is that... I hear buckwheat... its only the females....Everything can be eaten. The rabbits, guineas and grasshoppers.
Just say no to guineas. Trust me no one wants to hear those d@mn things screaming butt crack all day long.
I've found the ducks do better then chickens with eaten bugs
Oh I know its only females I've always got guineas here.BWahahahahnnnYep there is that... I hear buckwheat... its only the females....

Poules are hens, poulettes are poulets, roosters are coqs and cockerels are (arrrrgh mid blank have to get back on that one!). I wasn't sure about the generic word for 'chickens' everyone just talks about having 'poules'. I actually asked my half Frech dh and we double checked online so the generic word for chickens is actually officially 'poulet' which is also the word for those that you eat! As I said though I've never had a conversation with anyone about my 'poulet' - that is what we cook so not sure if that is really the correct word! I'll talk to my neighbour next time I see her to get the 'real' info!Interesting.
So Les poules means chickens.
What is the words for hen and rooster?
(I know I can Google but that isn't always fun or right.)
@TropicalBabies, I am sitting here watching “Buying Hawaii” and have seen many properties that already have chicken coops, citing offset of high cost of eggs and centipede eaters. I know there are several people on BYC from Hawaii and I guess that may be partly why. My DH and I have visited Oahu twice, but we never were able to see any of the local farms with chickens. I am curious to know how much a dozen eggs and a 50# bag of layer feed costs.
