I am not sure what to do next with my chicken. She has been in the house for over two weeks now. When we first took her in, she was puffy, comb was dry, vent and vent feathers were messy, no energy- stood in one spot, very red in the area of her vent, and poop was green and watery with these black things in it. We initially gave her some penicillin. Then we stopped because we thought she may have vent gleet. There was white and green stuff running down from her vent and her vent feathers were messy. We started treating her with Monistat, probiotics, baths everyday. She’s doing a lot better now. More energy, less puffy, poops are getting a little more solid, still green tho, she’s not red around the vent area anymore. Her vent feathers aren’t nearly as messy, she doesn’t have white and green stuff running down from her vent. She’s been eating, drinking water. Comb looks great. We’ve been treating her for almost two weeks now with the Monistat. I don’t know if there’s anything else we should do from here? We bought safeguard since on a previous post someone was nice and was helping us out and suggested to deworm her. I gave her the safeguard a few times in some food, not nearly the amount I was supposed to give her. I felt bad giving it to her not knowing 100% if it was worms. Maybe I should try that again? I feel like there’s something hanging around that I’m not treating, or maybe it takes a while to treat vent gleet? Pictures are from when we first brought her in and the last picture is how she looks now- way better.
