Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Like everybody else said, BYC is an incredible source for information. If you are looking for some printed books for your parents to read, a couple of popular ones on raising chickens are,
Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens by Gail Damerow. and Keep Chickens! (Tending Small Flocks in Cities, Suburbs, and Other Small Spaces) by Barbara Kilarski. For deciding on breeds, these are nice.
Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds or The Chicken Encyclopedia: An Illustrated Reference ... all are on Amazon.
