Check out your local library. They probably have books on how to build coops that you can borrow for free.

Craigslist and Freecycle!! I've found a ton of stuff that would work there, all of it really inexpensive or free. I got a giant hutch/house that can easily hold 10 chickens for $100.00 Lowes rents trucks for 20$ for two hours so you can go pick things up if you dont have a truck.

I suck at building too. I bought plans for the garden coop (thegardencoop.com) but even though they look easy enough, I know better than to try it!
