What age did your roo start to crow???

I had never heard my Roo crow until about 18 weeks - he does not crow much. I heard him crow at the neighbors dog after he barked. That was funny. He is the only Roo so I figured maybe that's why he doesn't make much noise? took this picture today 10-9-09 - we got these 3 as chicks 5-1-09
Have fun everyone!!!!!!!!!

My bantam cochin started crowing at around 9 weeks or so.
3 out of 4 suspected silkie roos started crowing at 14 weeks!
Way too early.

My black silkie started crowing at 18 weeks. I was extremely surprised because I ordered all girls!! It was not the sound I wanted to hear from the coop. Each day he crows louder and more often. I have a hunch my other black silkie is a roo too but he is much smaller and tries to mimic by making a sound like he is being strangled, cute but a sad sound. I have to admit that it has become my favorite sound every morning

My 2 silkie roos are justing to crow (18weeks)...it's a sickly/funny sound.
My neighbors were upset for us getting rid of our RIR roos that REALLY crowed...I told'em not to worry, I've got 2 in the wings and getting ready to fill the void.
Who, would of knew, that they would be dissappointed about no roos!!! jeez!

Between 8 and 12 weeks they start practicing

actually pretty crowing takes longer, about 16-20 weeks.
I love hearing it when the small guys do ´crowing lessons with daddy´. It´s too funny when all the small guys try to mimic our roo while still sounding like rusty doors.
