We have around 8 roos all between 12 and 15 weeks. So far there were just 2 attempts at crowing (at least while I was home). Once was early one morning, around 4am, and I heard a strange sound that freaked me out. It kept repeating every minute or so, and after searching I finally decided it was a roo attempting to crow out on our porch, very very strange sounding since I didn't realize they needed this practicing phase. Then today it was a polish roo that also sounded very strange. I'm a little excited and nervous for the real crowing to begin! I'm not good at waking up early so probably this will help. I'll have to start getting to bed earlier.

I've got a baby chicken, not sure of sex yet, but the little thing has been making this godawful noise. He/she is at the peeping stage yet, but there's this high pitched warble that the little bugger makes for five or ten minutes, over and over. Is this crowing?

I have 7 - 19 wk old roos, 3 are BOs and 4EEs. 2 of the EEs started to crow regularly about 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard anything from the rest of them.
