What age did your rooster crow?

For my boys it was about 4-5 months

I thought I would start a thread of cockerels and when they started to crow.
I have had many roosters before, but never made a note of when they started, but currently I have Kendall Jenner a BO (he was named that when I found out he was a boy) Kendall is 5 months old. Not a peep yet, His brother "Charlie Chicken" is on another farm and the guy says he is crowing. I just got 2 baby roosters (bought that way) through meyer hatchery. one Spitzenhauben "Doc" short for "Doctor Shefhausen" (bonus points if anyone know what movie that is from.)

does anyone know when they start to crow? Put up your picks and stories!
I have 3 Anconas, not quite 8 weeks, 3 Mille Fleur, not quite 6 weeks and yesterday I definitely heard a practice crow. That is the earliest I have even experienced.

I just heard a pathetic attempt at a crow coming from my brooder full of five day old silkies. I've heard it before from some pretty young ones and once you know the sound it's pretty easy to recognize. :lau

Of course when I went over to see if I could catch the culprit he stopped. It was one of these guys though (they don't usually crowd that much under the lamp, they just didn't like the scary camera).

At that age??? And, I though Dagwood was precocious. That’s like a baby with a beard.

I'm always amazed when they start so early. I didn't mention it earlier as I was fuzzy on the details but I am almost positive we had one from a hatch a few years ago crow multiple times on the day he hatched shortly after he dried off. Their little crows are pretty adorable, if you look up "baby chick crowing" on google search there are a few videos from YouTube that pop up of some chicks under a week old doing it if you're curious to hear what they sound like. :D

No, that isn't possible. ;)

She learned to crow. Some hens even grow spurs. And lots of roosters will sing the egg song. :p

She has gone to the lay box twice for hours but returned having left no egg. If I didn't hang out with her most days, I would assume she was hiding a nest. She is top of the pecking order and currently active. Alas, it's likely something more sinister like internal laying or other reproductive cancer that hasn't fully reared its' ugly head yet. Not too many birds get pet status here, but she is one. If she wasn't such a cool animal and overall good flock mate I'd have processed her already. But for now she lives the cush life (and only crows occasionally). :love

I believe it is possible for a hen to turn into a rooster. I saw an article about this while back and I will look in bookmarks to see if I still have it.
