What age do cockerels/roosters start crowing?

    I have a six month old (I think) bantam cockerel who has never even attempted to crow. He says "HA HA HA" or else sounds like a hen about to lay an egg.

    He reminds me of the Family Guy sketch where Stewie is playing with the european see-and-say and the rooster goes "dickery-dickery-doo".

    Here is a pic of him, what breed would you say he is?

    I have a 18 week old Speckeled Sussex, He started his first attempt of crowing at around 7 weeks. here is the video of his first "crow"
